Currently projects and files published by me as open source

Animatronic WorkBench

My primary project, which I am constantly developing and which is the basis for my animatronic characters. All downloads and information about the AWB can be found on the project page

Lava Frame

The LavaFrame was created in a weekend hackathon together with Thomas Smits based on an IKEA picture frame, 169 RGB LEDs and an ESP32. The open-source files for the LavaFrame can be found at LavaFrame on GitHub

Word Alarm Clock

Another weekend hackathon project with Thomas Smits is the Wort Wecker. The open-source files for the LavaFrame can be found on GitHub

More downloads

  • For the Mini Smoke Machine, the 3D printing files for the coil of Vaporesso can be downloaded.

  • From the Nikola Tesla bust, there are 3D print files on Thingiverse: Nikola Tesla bust on Thingiverse.

  • The 3D printing files for the Living Tentacle Soup I actually want to publish as well, but unfortunately I haven't done it yet. In addition, the project with the silicone molds to be cast and the electronics is also a bit more complex and therefore probably not so attractive for everyone to recreate. That's why I'm currently concentrating more on other projects that reach more people.

And where are the other downloads?

There are makers who provide their projects for their Patreon supporters, for example, as replica instructions or 3D models. Accordingly, they create their files in such a way that they can be easily recreated. They write the necessary instructions in sometimes impressive detail and great illustrations that come close to the quality of reference books or IKEA instructions. And they are also available to their supporters for questions and problems.

Since I run my projects as a 1-man project and only as a hobby on the side, I unfortunately do not find the time to offer this support. Strictly speaking, I always have about 1-2 projects in the queue that I would like to build and I don't find the time to edit making-of videos for my projects. There, too, I always have enough backlog. Or to say it with Jack Napier: "There is so much to do and we have so little time." 😉

Then please give me the files anyway, I'll get it done!

Then the request often comes: No problem, then just give me the files, I'll get it done. I've done this 1-2 times in a close circle of friends, but unfortunately it's not that simple: I was surprised by the many questions and problems that still arose despite the making-of videos, Discord and blog posts. For this reason, I have been concentrating on documenting my projects as well as possible in text, photos and videos, so that you can extract as much as possible from this information in terms of ideas and suggestions for your own projects. However, this information will probably suffice as a step-by-step rebuilding instruction - your own improvisation and problem solving will still be a main ingredient. In the end, I don't want someone to be frustrated because they have made the first effort with the files, but then can't cope and I can't help them.

Additional problem: The license question

Unfortunately, I am not allowed to provide many of the 3D print files I have created, even if I wanted to. The reason for this is that the underlying 3D models on which my characters are based were not created by myself, but I acquired them under license. Due to the license agreements, I am not allowed to pass on these files (which are based on other files).

The solution: Fewer, but good documented projects

Therefore, when publishing files, I concentrate on a few projects that are particularly close to my heart and that can be used by as many people as possible. There I try to create correspondingly good instructions and making-of videos that make it easier to recreate. These projects are usually open source at the same time, i.e. no one has to pay anything to get the files. And other makers can also develop the files, use them for their own projects and make them available to the community, which I always find very exciting.

You can find these projects at the top of this page.

My request, therefore,

Please understand that I cannot provide all my projects as downloads. Please refrain from asking me about the files. Especially for Grogu, Nix, PIP and Co I could only give you a very incomplete part of the files (see above). Either you wouldn't be able to do much with it or you would have to adjust the files purchased by the artist yourself. And if you are able to do so, you would also have the ability to create the other files yourself - and more precisely tailored to your needs.
